If you want something done, do it yourself...along with a trainer
individual training
When a trainer works with a team he/she typically has 12 to 18 players to work with. While this is an ideal way to teach team tactics, it is often difficult to provide adequate attention to individual technical training needs. Private, individualized training gives players the focused attention necessary to their development as high-level players. Private training is also a great way to stay sharp technically and physically.
Individual training allows the trainer to tailor the specific demands of the training to the individual player, which is not always possible in other settings. Training sessions are structured according to a player's strengths, weaknesses, developmental needs, and personal goals. If you have very specific training goals the individual training environment may be an ideal way for you to achieve them. Corrections and feedback can be made immediately and the learning process for the player dramatically decreases. Many times improvements can be made much quicker than in a traditional training environment.
At SJSS, the focus of our private, one on one, sessions is to help players perfect their technical abilities with the ball. While instructing them how we think certain skills should be performed, we also teach players why we feel this is the best way to go about it. In this way, players learn the tactical reasons for performing a skill and, as such, can regonize the situations in matches when to perform a skill. The ideal candidate for private training is a player who is self motivated to master the intracacies of the game and someone who enjoys working on his/her own when not participating in organized training.
Some examples of the skills that can be worked on and developed in individual training are:
